About Sali

Sali Sasaki was born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1976 and brought up in Paris, France. She practiced as a freelance communication designer and illustrator for the private sector before working for the United Nations cultural agency UNESCO from 2004 until 2008. There, she focused on the concept of creative cities and pursued her ongoing research on design for international development. She has written about social design on numerous occasions, notably for ICOGRADA’S 2007 World Congress in Cuba, Design|Culture.

Alongside her design/illustration work, she is now working to set up a design practice that will focus on international design projects and publications aiming at showcasing design/designers from emerging places.

Sali holds an MA in Communication Design from the RCA (Royal College of Art, London) and a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design. Her design studio is currently based in London, UK.
